About the Monterey Celtic Arts Academy
The Monterey Celtic Arts Academy is a non-profit organization that was
established in 1998. The organization was formed to enrich the lives of residents and young students
in the Monterey community by offering them educational opportunities related to Celtic arts through
the use of workshops, exhibitions, lectures, classes, and performances.
One of MCAA’s goals is to assist young students, ages 7 to 17, to learn how to play the Great Highland
Scottish Bagpipe and Drums. We encourage young students to play in the local band for community events
and also to compete at Scottish Highland Games, locally, and throughout the United States and Scotland.
Learning how to play music can help youth develop coordination and a sense of confidence while learning
how to play a unique musical instrument.
MCAA offerings include instruction in the following:
Scottish bagpipes
Scottish drumming
Scottish highland dance
MCAA is always looking for interested people to serve on committees, including
Newsletter, School Programs, and Fundraising. If you are interested
